All of our young horses are started by Butch Recanzone and Paul Elsner. They learn good ground manners and get a solid foundation. Each then returns to our ranch where they are turned out with the working herd and allowed to learn to be horses. Following that, each is ridden, roped on, taken outside, and given broad ranch experience and exposure. I personally believe that being a great all-around ranch horse is the highest calling for these animals, and if that is their talent, I ride and work with them and eventually bridle them up. I work hard to develop good minded, responsive, soft mouthed horses.

Most of my young horses are also patterned for barrels to determine if they have any talent and to expose them to yet another discipline. If they do, I continue to bring them along slowly by trailering them to rodeos and races, breezing them through time only runs, and if they show real promise, I begin racing them locally/regionally. The following are some young horses that we have raised that are crazy athletic and have a start on barrels.
